Safety at BJJ Camp XP:
From Arrival to Departure in Calima, Colombia
At BJJ Camp XP, we make sure your safety is covered from the moment you land to the time you leave. Whether you’re on the mats or exploring the beautiful surroundings, we’ve thought of everything so you can focus on enjoying your BJJ camp experience in Calima, Colombia.
The Journey Begins:
Safe Travel from
the Airport
We pick you up directly from Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport as soon as you land. One of our team members will meet you, and we’ll head straight to our BJJ camp at Lake Calima, avoiding the busy city areas. The drive takes about 1.5 hours, and along the way, you’ll enjoy some of the best views Valle del Cauca has to offer, from lush sugarcane and coffee farms to a stop at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the lake.
We make the ride more than just transportation—it’s a mini-tour. You’ll learn about how we rise 1,200 meters to Lake Calima, and if you want, we’ll stop for a snack or drink. Once we reach La Casita, our private and secure lakeside compound, you’ll be able to relax and settle in.
Accommodations: Your Safe and Cozy Home
At BJJ Camp XP, we make sure your stay is as comfortable as it is safe. Our camp has two houses—one with seven rooms and the other with three rooms. Some rooms are shared, and others are private, but all of them have bathrooms for your convenience. We pair up females and couples in shared rooms to ensure everyone feels comfortable.
Safety continues with our focus on keeping everything hygienic and ensuring everyone has access to safe drinking water. We’ve also got a well-stocked first aid kit in case of any minor injuries.
Training with Care: Safety on the Mats
We care about your safety just as much on the mats. From day one, we set clear expectations with a safety briefing. We don’t tolerate reckless rolling—everyone is expected to train smart and take care of their partners.
Before every training session, we remind participants to go easy, take care of each other, and stay hydrated. We offer water during and after each session to make sure no one gets dehydrated. And with two training sessions per day, you’re encouraged to rest if needed—no pressure to push yourself beyond what feels right for you.
Adventure Activities: Safe and Guided Fun
Our BJJ camp isn’t just about rolling; we mix in some fun, guided adventure activities. Whether it’s kitesurfing, paddleboarding, or a hike to a waterfall, all of our activities are led by professionals. For example, our kitesurfing instructors are IKO-certified, which means they’re trained to keep you safe while you enjoy learning the sport.
When we go out for paddleboarding, we provide life jackets for everyone, and our team makes sure we stick together. Calima is a perfect place for adventure sports. With over 500,000 tourists visiting each year, it’s known for having some of the best wind conditions in South America for kitesurfing and windsurfing. It’s also a hotspot for mountain biking, motocross, and bird watching
If we head into the local town, we use a buddy system so that no one is alone. For any unexpected situations, we have a hospital just 35 minutes away and pharmacies even closer, so help is always nearby.
Delicious and Safe Meals
We know how important food is, especially when you’re training hard. At BJJ Camp XP, we ask about any dietary restrictions before camp starts, and our chef works with participants to create meal plans that fit their needs. Whether you’re vegetarian, gluten-free, or have other dietary preferences, we make sure you’re fueled with healthy, delicious meals throughout your stay.
Health and Staying Connected
We also set up a WhatsApp group before camp begins. This group allows everyone to stay connected, ask questions, and keep in touch during the week. It’s also a great way to share important updates and reminders.
Departure: Seamless and Safe
As your BJJ camp comes to an end, we’ll make sure your departure is as smooth as your arrival. We collect flight details from all participants before camp starts and ensure everyone gets to the airport on time, with plenty of time to check in.
The WhatsApp group stays active so everyone can keep in touch until they’re safely on their way home.
At BJJ Camp XP, your safety is at the core of everything we do, whether you’re rolling on the mats, enjoying an adventure, or relaxing with your fellow campmates. With 500,000 tourists visiting Calima each year, you can rest assured that this area is well-known for both its beauty and safety standards.
